Appointment Guidelines:

General Guidelines:

  • 30 minutes to 1-hour maximum
  • No more than 1 appointment per day
  • 2 appointments per week (per tutor/librarian)
  • Can book up to 1 hour in advance
  • Cancellation needs to be 24 hours in advance (3 strikes will result in a suspension of tutoring privileges for the semester)
  • Special accommodations can be for students after instructor recommendation/request
  • Workshop attendance will not count towards 2 appointments/week total
  • Students: please have specific questions or areas of concern ready for your appointment

What librarians and tutors cannot do:

  • Edit or proofread your work
  • Look through or help you correct your entire assignment or paper
  • Find journal articles and send them to you
  • Help you with your take-home exams
  • Tell you how many words your assignment should be or how long it should take you to complete it

Please note: while tutors and librarians can help you follow the citation guidelines laid out in their respective manuals, the ultimate decision on all formatting matters remains with your instructors.

Writing and Grammar Submission Guidelines:

  • You can send your written assignments to the Writing and Grammar tutor (cpienaar@gprc.ab.ca) for comments up to 3 times
  • You can expect the assignments to be returned in 1-3 business days (wait times may be longer during midterm and final season)
  • Make sure you are not submitting your assignments the day before they are due!
  • Comments will be limited to 3 pages or your introduction, conclusion, and one body paragraph
  • Please note that no more than two instances of the same issue will be highlighted
  • If you choose to resubmit your assignment for additional comments you must have made all the corrections from your previous submission

Math and Science Appointment Guidelines:

  • Group bookings will count as a session for each member of the group
  • Review sessions for specific classes will not count towards a student’s 2 sessions per week maximum

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding these changes please reach out to Marissa Rocca, Student Learning and Experience Librarian at mrocca@gprc.ab.ca
